VOLUNTEERS

The Dracut Food Pantry is blessed with an incredibly devoted group of volunteers.  They are major factor in the success of the pantry, and they are faithful to our mission of being kind and compassionate to those who come in for assistance, and maintaining confidentiality.

We have three different crews of volunteers.

Saturday Crew – This group works directly with the clients at the openings, providing compassionate assistance by shopping with clients or helping them out to the car with their shopping carts and groceries.
All volunteers on Saturday must be ages 21 or older for client confidentiality purposes.  Most volunteers are scheduled in two-hours shifts, usually every other month.

Saturday Volunteer Coordinator:  Debbie Hovanasian

Daytime Stocking Crew – This group consists mostly of retired volunteers or those who are available during the day.  When help is needed to stock the shelves, daytime volunteers are alerted a few days in advance by email.  If they are available, they come in to help.

Daytime Volunteer Coordinator:  Debbie Hovanasian

Evening Sorting Crew – This group consists of families, students or volunteers who work full-time.   They are called in after large food drives to code the food (checking for expired dates), to sort food by category, and organize the back stockroom.   This group is also alerted by email when help is needed.

Evening Volunteer Coordinator – Jim O’Loughlin

Periodically we add new volunteers as the need arises.  If you are interested in volunteering, please email dfpvolunteers@comcast.net.  Include which crew (above) interests you the most.  When additional help is needed, you will be contacted.
